Did Ya Miss Me?

Hellloooooo.....

Is there an echo in here; it's so empty. Is there anyone out there? Have I lost all those folks who used to check this space? I feel like I've been derilict in my duties, remiss in my responsibilities. Well no excuses from me, work has been busy, but I'm back. And I'm here to stay. So right quick, this weekend I:

1) Worked till after 10 on Friday night
2) Worked till after 10 on Saturday night. Went to Kramerbooks and Afterwords and ate chocolate-covered cicadas
3) Worked till after 10 on Sunday night
4) Still workin on Monday

That's right, chocolate covered cicadas. And they were good...

In conclusion, I'm back. Thanks for readin.

miscellanea

My apartment has acquired a few new residents: mice and ants.

We've had the ants before, fairly slow little fuckers. They've generally gone away with the introduction of some ant traps placed strategically in the house (on the kitchen counter). We applied this method to the current brood and for a time we thought we'd achieved the desired results. Unfortunately, we were mistaken. It appears that our poisoning has merely killed off the largest ants. We're left with ants that are about half the size of their predecessors. Further, there are more of them. My theory about this is as follows, since these ants are half the size of the others, they require half the food to survive, ergo, there are twice as many of the fuckers. Argue with that! It's science.

The mouse was spotted by a housemate while he was eating cereal on the couch (how he can continue to cereal after learning, halfway through a bowl, that his last box was ant infested, I don't know). Our new house guest poked his head out from under the other couch and looked at the his new roommate. Paul, apparently freaking out like a child, scared him back under the couch and in the general direction of my bedroom.

Also, consider the following:

-The more things change, the more they stay the same.

or

--Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose

The same phrase. I'm starting to think that English is really ugly language.

A Few Thoughts

I've been meaning to post since last Sunday. I've got a bunch to talk about, the March for Women's Lives, the band Menage, trying to go to Asheville for a bit, Bob Edwards leaving Morning Edition, a few more "Things to do in DC when You're Dumped" posts, but I've been a bit busy at the office.

So here's something to chew on until I have some more time:

I just received a cell phone call asking foe someone named "Big Al"
